stool

Instructor: Steven Mankouche
Class: ARCH 509 “Furniture is Architecture”

Term: Summer 2025 (graduate)

This was an exercise in basic furniture-making skills such as using a lathe to turn wood and creating secure mortise and tenon connections to create a level, structurally sound stool. Students were asked to consider the grain and properties of the wood as well as proportions for creating a comfortable seat when desigining and fabricating this stool. This stool is made of ash and cherry with ebony shims for the tenon joints.
